- U.S. visitor visas are available for temporary entry into the U.S. for any of the following reasons:
- 1) Business (but not employment)
- 2) Pleasure or
- 3) Medical treatment
- We provide our clients with advice and assistance with obtaining U.S. visitor visas. We assist our clients outside the U.S. with obtaining visitor visas and assist individuals with prior denials and/or prior immigration violations. We also assist our clients within the U.S. with obtaining a change or extension of their visitor status.
General Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate strong nonimmigrant intent (e.g., Family, employment, and/or financial ties)
- Non-U.S. residence
- Demonstration that the trip is temporary and for the permitted purposes
- Financial ability to remain in the U.S. for the requested timeframe without U.S. employment
Time Period
- Up to one (1) year, with the potential to extend for an additional six (6) months
- Determined at the port of entry, based on the purpose of the visit and other discretionary factors.

B1 - Visa
B-1 for Business – for personal and/or domestic attendants of U.S. citizens and certain nonimmigrants who are visiting the U.S. for permissible business activities.
Specific Requirements
- Permissible business activities include:
- Participating in scientific, educational, professional, or business conferences or conventions,
- Negotiating contracts,
- Meeting with business associates,
- Litigating,
- Consultations, and
- Other legitimate commercial and professional activities.
- Business activities must primarily benefit a non-U.S. company
- Does NOT permit gainful employment.
B-1 visas are also available for
- Foreign medical students in unpaid observerships, and
- Missionaries and ministers exchanging pulpits
B2 - Visa
B-2 for Pleasure or Medical Treatment – for tourism, social visits, certain medical treatments, and participation in amateur sports, music, and similar events.
Specific Requirements
- If for medical treatment, documentation of the need for treatment in the U.S. and the financial ability to pay for the treatment is required.
- Also used for domestic partners not in a marital relationship to accompany their qualifying partners.


Visa Waiver Program
Visa Waiver Program (“VWP”) – for citizens of certain designated countries
- Certain countries are designated for inclusion in the VWP based upon having low rates of immigration violations as well as meeting other security-related protections.
- Recipients of the visa waiver can travel in the U.S. for up to 90 days to engage in activities that would be appropriate under the B-1 or B-2 visas.
- The VWP eliminates the need to apply for a visa at a U.S. consulate prior to entry but contains strict prohibitions on obtaining extensions or changes of status within the U.S.
